David Mair (Manager)

David Mair, the manager of "The Marina Shop" has over 55 years boating experience in New Zealand, the Pacific and the Mediterranean.
He is a qualified Marine Engineer and for 12 years owned and operated
his own Boat Building business.
David is also a qualified diver with underwater demolition and salvage experience.
More recently he spent over 10 years in the Pacific Islands running various Game Fishing Charter Boats.
David has completed many Blue Water voyages, under power and sail, and has an in-depth knowledge of the problems that most mariners are likely to encounter.
Since 2000, David has owned and operated his marine insurance business trading as The Marina Shop Ltd.
Melita Mair (Assistant Manager)

Melita has over 45 years boating experience in New Zealand, the Pacific and the Mediterranean.
She is a retired Registered Nurse and has completed many Blue Water voyages, under power and sail, to Australia, New Guinea, the Solomon's, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, Tonga and French Polynesia.
Between 1988 and 2001 Melita and her husband David operated a Game Fishing business at Musket Cove Resort in Fiji, and from 1993 to 1998 Melita was hostess on their own long range live-aboard Game Fishing
boat MV Zeus in Tonga.
In 2005 Melita gave up her job as a professional nanny to join David at The Marina Shop in Opua and is now fully engaged in selling marine insurance.
Laura Jordan (Consultant)

Laura joined The Marina Shop in March 2011. She brings with her many years of experience in the marine industry as well a many offshore sailing miles. Laura arrived in Opua for the first time in 2005 with her partner on their yacht Mystic Traveler.
Prior to heading offshore Laura was the Marine Sales Manager for a textile manufacturer in the states – her job took her all over North America selling textiles to OEM boat manufacturers, as well as attending and/or exhibitng in all the major USA marine trade-shows. Her psssion and desire was always sailing and her goal was to head off-shore in 2001 – which she did.
After arriving back in Opua the second time the decision was made to make The Bay of Islands her home. From 2009 to 2011 Laura worked in the Opua Marina and decided to make the move to The Marina Shop in March 2011.
